The year before was an important one for console gamers. Both Sony and Microsoft released their next-generation consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X respectively. Although the PS5 was launched globally in November 2020, it did not arrive in India at the same time due to trademark nonsense. Well, with the start of the New Year, Sony seems to have solved the problem and confirmed the PS5 India release date today.

PlayStation 5 (PS5) Launch Date in India

In an official tweet from this PlayStation India account, Sony verified that the PS5 will finally go on sale in India starting February 2, 2021. Eager buyers will be able to pre-order the PS5 starting January 12 at 12 p.m. and offline retailers.

As you can notice from this tweet, you’ll be able to pre-order a PS5 from Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Game The Shop, Shop at Sony Center, Vijay Sales, also other retailers.

If you don’t already know, the launch of PlayStation India was delayed because the company did not have the PS5 trademark in the country. A Delhi resident named Hitesh Aswani reportedly applied for the PS5 nickname trademark on October 29, 2019, about three months before Sony’s application. The company seems to have finally solved this problem. It is now preparing to launch its next-generation console in India about three months after its global launch.

Price of PlayStation 5 and accessories in India

Although Sony had no trademark or release date in sight, it still confirmed pricing for the PlayStation 5 in India.

The PlayStation 5 is priced at Rs. 49,990 in India. But if you don’t plan on buying game discs and trading them with friends, go for the more affordable digital edition of the PS5. It will retail for Rs. 39,990 in India.

As for the new DualSense controller, it is priced at Rs. 5,990 in India. It presently features a clean white aesthetic, a new adaptive L2 also R2 firing system, a built-in microphone, and a USB Type-C port for charging. You can check the price list of the console and the attached accessories here:
