After Nokia laptops were BIS certified earlier this month, the company scoffed at the existence of upcoming laptops on Flipkart. Although the teaser doesn’t reveal the specifications of the laptop, it does give a hint of what to expect from Nokia’s first laptop called the Nokia Purebook.
Nokia Purebook, because this name suggests, is likely to be an ultrabook. The company pokes fun at the lightweight nature of the laptop with a pen. You can also expect a common set of specifications from this laptop, although this exact configuration remains a mystery as of this writing.
Thanks to this BIS certification, we already know that Nokia has plans to launch at least nine laptop models in India. These compact units have on this model numbers NKi510UL82S, NKi510UL85S, NKi510UL165S, NKi510UL810S, NKi510UL1610S, NKi310UL41S, NKi310UL42S, NKi310UL82S, also NKi310UL85S respectively.
It’s up in the air that these models could come with Intel’s 10th generation i3 and i5 chips with up to 16GB of RAM. Taking an educated guess, we might expect laptops to offer Windows 10 as an operating system.
Nokia’s decision to enter the laptop segment in India comes at a time when there is an increased need for lightweight laptops due to remote working and e-learning. To meet this demand, other brands such as Xiaomi recently launch an e-learning edition of their present line of laptops.
The teaser also confirms that the laptops will go on sale through Flipkart, as will Nokia’s smart TVs. This means that HMD Global will not participate in these laptops. We will have to wait until Nokia officially launches the laptops to find out more regarding official specifications, pricing, and availability.
