Chinese smartphone manufacturing companies gained a large share of the Indian smartphone market by offering more premium features at a lower price. Currently, about 70 percent of the Indian smartphone market is occupied by China. That is 7 out of 10 Indians use Chinese smartphones. However, Mukesh Ambani may challenge the dominance of Chinese smartphones.
Mukesh Ambani’s plan?
According to the Bloomberg report, Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Industries Ltd. has directed local suppliers to accelerate smartphone manufacturing, making more than 200 million Android smartphones in the next two years. With the introduction of Android smartphones, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer in India will face a tough challenge. India’s most valuable company is in talks with national mobile assembly companies, which will jointly manufacture Jio’s Android smartphone. Jio’s Android smartphone will cost around 4,000 rupees. Jio can also launch a special kind of recharge plans for Android smartphones.
India smartphone manufacturing will get a boost
According to the report, Mukesh Ambani wants to firmly establish the country’s smartphone industry, as does Telcom service. Manufacturing in India is increasingly focused according to the government plan. In addition to Jio, Dixon Technology India, Lava International, and Karbonn Mobile have also increased manufacturing in India.
Smartphones made in India cost less
Reliance will need large-scale local manufacturing to make Rs.20 million smartphones in two years. According to the report, India currently manufactures around 16.5 million smartphones a year. Furthermore, an equal number of feature phones are also manufactured. The special thing is that the phone made in India costs much less.
