Apple’s current line of iPhones maxes out at 20W when it comes to charging speed. That could change with the launch of this iPhone 13 series later this year. If a new article on this Chinese tech website MyDrivers is anything to go by, we can suppose this next iPhone series to be compatible with a new 25W fast charging adapter.
iPhone 13 May offer 25W fast charging
According to this report citing sources in Apple’s supply chain, the iPhone 13 series can support fast charging of up to 25W. While this is not a significant jump, it should result in a minor improvement in overall load time. And of course, take this with a grain of salt, as it is a rumor at the moment.
In particular, the jump to 25W matches the charging speed offered on Samsung’s Galaxy S21 lineup. That said, you will find plenty of other Android phones with faster-charging speeds at cheaper prices, take the Poco F3 GT that launched in India today with 67W fast charging, for example.
If Apple plans to change to 25W charging on the iPhone 13, this Cupertino giant may start selling a new 25W USB-C power adapter for the iPhone 13. You’ll have to buy it separately, as iPhones no longer shipped with chargers in the box. However, you will get a Lightning to USB-C cable in the box.
As a result, at least some people may stop up ditching their 20W USB-C power adapters for a faster one, change would produce electronic waste.
