What is OnePlus Care? Everything You Need to Know

It has been five years since OnePlus launched its first smartphone, OnePlus One in 2014. Despite having relatively less experience in the smartphone world, OnePlus has managed to outgrow itself and have become a leader in the mid-range – premium segment of the market. The credit must go to its community-driven approach and focus on improving the user experience. In line with its continued effort, the company has brought a new program called OnePlus Care. It’s an umbrella of different benefit plans which allow the company to give back to its prized community. Now having said that, let’s go ahead and learn more about OnePlus Care in detail.

What Exactly is OnePlus Care?

Currently, OnePlus has a Care program, but it only deals with device insurance: offering protection plans against accidental damages for a fee. However, with the launch OnePlus 7T, the company announced that it’s bringing a new OnePlus Care program with lots of exclusive benefits for OnePlus users. With the revamped OnePlus Care, you will get a 1-year extended warranty without any charge and that is absolutely great. Other than that, there are battery replacement and trade-in plans which we will discuss below in detail. So to give a brief overview, OnePlus Care is essentially a benefit program for users who have been loyal to the brand. Now having said that, let’s talk about the bits and pieces of all the three plans thoroughly.

The Benefits of OnePlus Care

  • 1-Year Extended Warranty Plan

As I mentioned above, you will get a free 1-year additional warranty on your OnePlus smartphone. But, the important question remains, which devices are eligible for this offer? Well, the plan is applicable to OnePlus 6T, 7, 7 Pro, 7T and any other upcoming OnePlus devices. Further, the device must be under the original warranty period offered by OnePlus. Of all the devices, if you have a OnePlus 6T, you should activate this plan as early as possible before your warranty expires.

Now, we come to the next question, how to get the 1-year extended warranty for free? The steps are simple, just download the OnePlus Care app (Free) from the Play Store and log in with your OnePlus account.

Now, you will see a banner on top “Unlock Exclusive Benefits For This Device”. Tap on it and then again tap on “Activate Now” button. Further, it might ask for the IMEI number (if you have the OnePlus 7T) and then purchase details. After verifying your details, the complimentary 1-year warranty plan will be added to your device. You can further claim the warranty through the app itself.

  • Battery Replacement Plan

Under the OnePlus Care program, the company is also offering a battery replacement plan which is excellent for old OnePlus owners. OnePlus is subsidizing the battery replacement price by 50% and that is simply great. Currently, the following devices are under this plan: OnePlus 3, 3T, 5, 5T and 6. Here is the effective cost of battery replacement under the OnePlus care program.

To avail this offer, you will have to make a booking for repair against battery damage on the OnePlus Care app. After that, select a service center near your location and preferred time slot. The maintenance engineer will offer you doorstep service without any hassle. However, keep in mind, if you go to the service center directly without making a reservation on the app then you will be charged the full amount.

  • Upgrade Plan

OnePlus already has a Buyback program for exchanging old devices including phones from different OEMs. However, with OnePlus Care, you get a new trade-in plan specifically for OnePlus devices. Under this plan, you can exchange your old OnePlus smartphone with the latest one and get a competitive price for the exchange. On top of it, you will also get an additional offer for older OnePlus devices. This plan is applicable to all OnePlus models starting from OnePlus One. Here is how it fares out with the exchange value.

You can avail this benefit from the OnePlus Care app. You will have to fully diagnose your device using the app and after a successful diagnosis, you can choose to upgrade to the latest OnePlus device.

Wondershare UniConverter: An Excellent Video Converter

It’s such a shame that different operating systems make us use different video file formats. That’s not true only for operating systems but also for the apps we use. It’s frustrating to get a video only to find out that your operating system or video player doesn’t support that format. Then you either have to look for apps that will help you play that file or use a video converter to get the file in the desired format. I personally always keep a video converter handy as you never know when you are going to need one. And no video converter does is more easily and faster than Wondershare UniConverter. I have been testing the app since last week and I have fallen in love with it. In this article, I am going to show you our quick look at Wondershare UniConverter.

Key Features

While Wondershare UniConverter brings a ton of features to the table, we are going to focus on its video converter attributes. In this section, we are going to discuss a few of its cool features that make it better than most video converters out in the market.

1. Video Convert

The flagship feature of Wondershare UniConverter is its ability to convert videos between different formats. While most other video converters a dozen of so formats, this app allows you to convert a video into a thousand different formats. Needless to say, whatever the output format that you require, you can get it done using Wondershare UniConverter. The process of conversion is also simple. Just drag and drop the file into the software and let the software process it. Now, select the output format by clicking on the “Target” button and select the format you want.

Converting Video

As you can see, Wondershare UniConverter displays the supported output formats into neatly organized categories such as MP4, MKV, MPEG, F4V, and more. It even displays different categorizes with optimized formats for YouTube, Facebook, and Vimeo among others. Just select the category and then the format and click on the convert button. That’s it. The conversion is fast so if you are not using a large file, it won’t take more than a few minutes to get it done.

2. Burn to DVD

As I mentioned above, Wondershare UniConverter brings a ton of other features and the ability to burn videos to DVD is one of them. I know this is not a feature that everyone will require or use. But for users who still need this, it is a godsend. What I love most about the burning process is that it takes one click. Just drag and drop the media file into the software and then click on the “Burn” button to start the process. There are also advance controls such as the ability to change the aspect ratio of the video, quality of the video, and more for people who need it.

Burning DVD

3. The Toolbox

The final key feature that I want to talk about is the Toolbox. Calling the Toolbox a feature is an understatement because essentially it contains nine different operations that you can perform on a video. All these operations are tools for your video processing and hence the name Toolbox. Click on the Toolbox tab and you will find several features including Image Converter, GIF Maker, Metadata Editor, Video Compressor, and more. I am still amazed that one software can perform so many operations and if that is what you desire, then Wondershare UniConverter is something you should not miss out on.

Wondershare UniConverter - The ToolBox

User Interface and Ease of Use

I have seldom used a piece of software that is as easy to use as Wondershare UniConverter. It literately takes just a few clicks to perform any operation that you want. When you first launch the app, it will open in the “Convert” tab. Here, you can either click on the big file icon to select the video you want to convert or just drag and drop the file. For using other actions such as the DVD Burner and the Toolbox, you can click on the labeled tabs at the top.

Ease of Use

Apart from the three key features that we have discussed above, you may notice that there are two more tabs; Download and Transfer. The “Download” tab allows you to download videos using URL links while the “Transfer” tab allows you to transfer videos from your computer to your smartphone. One nifty feature hidden in the “Download” tab is the download and convert. This allows you to not only download a video but also convert it to your desired format before saving the file. I mean, how cool is that.

Ease of Use 1

As you can see, using Wondershare UniConverter is as easy as it can get. As far as the user interface and ease of use go, this app has knocked it out of the park.

Pricing and Availability

The Wondershare UniConverter is available for both Windows and macOS platforms. You can get the app directly from the developer’s website. As far as pricing is concerned, the software is available for $29.95/year subscription price. If you don’t want to go the subscription route, you can pay a one time fee of $59.95 to buy it outright. If you are planning to use it on multiple PCs, you are better off with the family license which allows you to use it on 5 different computers for $89.95. The pricing is the same for Windows and Mac versions of the software. If you are still apprehensive, there’s also a free trial on the website which you can check out before buying the software.

Checkout Wondershare UniConverter: Starts at $29.95 (free trial available)

Wondershare UniConverter: Get the Best Video Experience

Wondershare UniConverter is one of the best if not the best video conversion tool on the market. Apart from the fact that the software excels at video conversion, I also love the fact that it contains so many other goodies that makes the purchase worthwhile. It’s both fast and easy to use. And if you are looking for a video conversion software, this should be on the top of your list.

OPPO Reno 2’s Quad Cameras in Action

Launched earlier this year, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom was one of the most likeable phones in my opinion. It offered you flagship-grade hardware, performance, and cameras at a very reasonable price as compared to its competitors. Well, OPPO Reno 2 arrived recently with the Snapdragon 730G gaming-centric chipset, bezel-less design, shark-fin rising camera, and of course, quad-cameras in tow.

OPPO has been trendsetter over the past few years, perking up its smartphone offerings with innovative new features. OPPO Reno 2 and its quad-cameras are no exception and that’s exactly what we are here to explore today.

OPPO Reno 2: Camera Specs

Before we take a look at the different camera samples, here’s a rundown of the camera specifications. OPPO Reno 2 is aligned with the ongoing trend and comes packed with a vertically-aligned quad-camera module on the rear. It includes a primary 48MP (f/1.7) Sony IMX586 sensor, coupled with a 13MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom capability, an 8MP ultra-wide lens with 116-degree field-of-view (and a nifty trick up its sleeve, which we will explore down below), and finally a 2MP mono lens for capturing a larger amount of detail.

So, without further ado, let’s see the OPPO Reno 2’s quad-cameras in action. We’ll check out the different camera modes and samples captured using them right here:

OPPO Reno 2: Camera Samples

Note: We have resized the images you see attached below to not bog down the website, but you can check out full-resolution images on Google Drive via this link right here.

1. 48MP Primary Camera Shots

Starting off, we took the OPPO Reno 2 out for a spin and captured pictures in different daylight and lowlight settings. You can see in the images attached below that the OPPO Reno 2 delivers some excellent results with ample details, good dynamic range, and an overall pleasant result that’s worth sharing on social media.

1 of 10

2. Ultra Wide Angle and Macro Shots

Apart from a 48MP primary sensor, OPPO Reno 2 comes equipped with an ultra-wide-angle lens that can surely help you change how one perceives an image as compared to the standard wide-angle shot. One of the main concerns with ultra-wide-angle lenses on phones is color accuracy and a fish-eye effect. Well, Reno 2 takes care of both, providing you pictures with good contrast minus the weird contouring effect on the edges.

Well, there’s no doubt about the fact that ultra-wide-angle lens on the Reno 2 opens up even more possibilities for the users. It not only offers you a fresh new perspective, but also hands you the power to get up-close with the subject. Yeah, you can also capture macro shots using the ultra-wide-angle lens on the Reno 2.

As for the image quality, well, you can see that the samples below are crisp with a good amount of detail and accurate color reproduction. I’m quite impressed with these macro shots and intend to use this feature on the regular.

3. 20X Zoom Shots

One of my favorite features on the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom, which I used quite extensively earlier this year, was the ability to click photos at 10x hybrid and 60x digital zoom. Well, OPPO Reno 2 makes this stunning feature more accessible and I love it.

OPPO Reno 2 doesn’t include a periscope-cum-telephoto lens, so 10x hybrid zoom photos are out of the question. But, the 13MP telephoto lens provides you 2x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, and 20x digital zoom capability. I’ve been toying with this feature for a few days now, so check out some 20x zoom shots captured by me:

Oppo Reno 2 – 20x Zoom Samples 1 of 8

1x Zoom
2x Zoom
5x Zoom
20x Zoom
1x Zoom
2x Zoom
5x Zoom
20x Zoom

So, as seen in the images above, you cannot read the text on the signage far away, but OPPO Reno 2 lets you get close to it without physically moving from your spot. This is an awesome feature to have on a smartphone as it could be used while recording videos as well.

4. Portrait Mode Shots

Almost every smartphone out there, even sub-Rs. 8,000 devices come baked with the portrait mode feature, so how could it be missing on a high-end flagship. OPPO Reno 2 features a “16MP shark-fin pop-up selfie camera module” and well, you can click some amazing portrait mode shots using it. The smartphone is able to capture a lot of detail, sharp pictures with good edge detection and a natural background blur.

5. Ultra Steady Videos

One of my favorite features of OPPO Reno 2 will have to be the ultra steady videos. Man, the videos captured using this smartphone are super smooth and it feels like you used a gimbal to keep the phone stable. But, that’s not the case in the samples attached below, where we were running while recording both the 4K/30fps and 1080p/60fps videos.

The ultra steady video mode is quite impressive and has been made possible thanks to OIS and EIS both being present on the smartphone. If we were to comment on the video quality, well, it’s very good and likeable. The videos are color accurate, sharp and detailed, free of any focus issues, and the audio is excellent too.

6. Portrait Videos

Another amazing feature of OPPO Reno 2 will have to be the ability to capture portrait videos. Yes, you can not only click photos with a blurred background but capture videos with the same blurred effect – to only further highlight the subject. Check out a couple of sample videos we captured with the Reno 2:

Well, you can see in the videos here that the edge-detection is excellent, especially since one of these videos was captured in artificial light. The blur also looks natural and not too strong, which is great. This feature could be a boon for fledgling YouTubers, TikTok stars, and other content creators, who would like to have a DSLR-like bokeh in their videos.

7. Ultra Dark Mode

OPPO Reno 2 also sports an “ultra dark mode” that allows you to capture some stunning photos in low-light conditions. It does not just bump up the brightness of the shots, but also uses AI noise reduction to perk up the details and sharpness of the subjects. This is another useful and nifty feature that should allow you to click pictures at clubs, concerts, and architecture at night. Check out the comparison between a standard and night mode shot right here:

8. Other Features

Apart from the slew of features that we have demoed above, OPPO Reno 2 comes packed with even more capabilities such as Sound Focus and 20x Zoom videos. While the former amplifies the subject’s audio on zooming in and out, the latter lets you use the 20x zoom feature in videos as well – but it’s restricted to 1080p/30fps, which is okay!

  • 20x Zoom Video

  • Sound Focus

Well, that’s pretty much everything you need to know about the Reno 2’s quad-cameras. You now have a good idea of the different camera features and how they perform, which means you can surely appreciate the photography prowess of this phone. To sum it up, I would say that the OPPO Reno 2 is a compelling mid-range camera phone that would not disappoint you. Do you think so too? Let us know in the comments below.

7 Best Feedly Alternatives You Should Use

Almost all of us have a particular set of favorite websites, blogs, news portals etc. that we visit on a near daily basis. And when it comes to keeping tabs on the latest updates from all these diverse web sources, nothing works better than RSS feed aggregators, such as the hugely popular Feedly. Now, although Feedly is a really great RSS reader, it also has its fair share of limitations. Some users are also unable to digest the high price of its Pro version. If you are also tired of using Feedly, don’t fret, as there are numerous feature laden RSS feed aggregators out there that you can use as alternatives. Stoked? Let’s take a look at the 7 best Feedly alternatives.

Best Feedly Alternatives in 2019

1. The Old Reader

The Old Reader is one of the complete alternatives to Feedly with jam-packed features and superior platform support. Similar to Feedly, you can add your sources including websites, blogs, keywords, and a lot more. The best part about Old Reader is that it can create a feed from direct URLs as well, in case the website does not support RSS syndication service. And if you are already using Feedly or any other RSS reader then you can seamlessly migrate all your feed subscription using the OPML file extension. That’s awesome, right? But wait, there is more to it. You can also export the personalized feed folders so that you feel right at home after moving to Old Reader.

the old reader - Best Feedly Alternatives

Apart from that, you can organize your feed with various tags and folders. Further, you can reposition the news sections just by dragging and that is awesome because I want my news in the right order. Having said that, The Old Reader has something called a ‘Like’ action button which helps you in discovering similar content and also connects you with users having related interests. Not to mention, you can bookmark articles in a separate folder for later reading as well. All in all, The Old Reader is an apt replacement to Feedly and you simply can’t go wrong with it.

Platform Availability: Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari; iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Windows Phone (Mobile)

Price: Free, Paid plans start from $3/month

2. Feedbin

Feedbin is an open-source alternative to Feedly which I would say, is on par with Feedly in terms of both slick design and features. Talking about the features, you can add your sources ranging from websites to email newsletters. But the best part is that you can also add Twitter handles creating a single feed of all the information. On the interface front, there is support for dark theme and various fonts which can be customized for the optimal reading experience. Apart from that, what I love about Feedbin is that you can read articles in full-screen mode which gives an immersive experience and allows you to pay full attention to details.

The best part about Feedbin is that it can sync feed in real-time and you can continue reading while moving from one device to another. In addition, Feedbin comes with something called faves which is basically the bookmark feature and also has support for seamless sharing across many apps. Apart from that, you have newsletter support, text-only reading, saved searches and surprisingly podcast which is a unique addition in an RSS reader. Nevertheless, Feedbin is one of the feature-packed RSS readers and easily rivals Feedly. Have no hesitation in picking this RSS reader.

Platform Availability: Web, iOS, Android

Price: Free trial for 14 days, Paid plans start from $5/month

3. Inoreader

Having a truckload of impressive features, Inoreader is arguably the most feature packed Feedly alternative out there, and one that’s truly built for the power user. Getting started with Inoreader is as simple as creating a free account and logging in. You can either choose your favorite topics (e.g. sports, technology) for getting an automatically curated feed, or use the Subscriptions menu in the left side-bar to add/manage your favorite websites and other feed sources.

Inoreader fully supports tags and folders, which make organizing feeds easy. You can star your favorite articles, as well directly share them on a variety of social networks (Facebook, Baidu, Remember The Milk etc.) that Inoreader supports. Not only that, you can even create custom filtering rules for specific articles by configuring parameters like subscription source, title text, and stuff like that.

The free tier account is ad supported and doesn’t include advanced features like automatic feed backups, and public article searching. In addition, it also caps the maximum number of certain features like rules and filtered feeds. However, you can always upgrade to one of the paid plans for removing all these restrictions, and get goodies like customizable dashboard, access to password protected feeds, and much more.

Platform Availability: Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera (Web); iOS, Android, Windows Phone (Mobile); Multiple third party extensions and apps (Other platforms)

Price: Paid plans start from $14.99 per year, Free plan available

4. Reeder 4

If you are in the Apple ecosystem, Reeder is the best alternative to Feedly by a long run. It’s as powerful and feature-rich as Feedly with native apps for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. For starters, you can choose multiple news sources, personal blogs, newsletters and it will streamline all the headlines in a readable format. Further, you can choose to read articles by individual websites too and in case you are running out of time then you can save them for later reading. One interesting feature of Reeder 4 is Bionic Reading which highlights initials of every word so you can scan and read the article quickly.

reeder 4

Other than that, what I love about Reeder 4 is that it shows article thumbnail, which even Feedly lacks, and lets you preview images without clicking on them. Not to mention, the Reeder 4 app comes in dark mode for strain-free reading so that is great. Also, keep in mind, unlike Feedly, Reeder 4 does not follow a subscription model. Instead, it charges you a one-time fee and that is about it. All in all, I would say Reeder 4 is the perfect RSS Reader for Apple users and you should definitely give it a try.

Platform Availability: iOS, macOS

Price: $4.99 for iOS, $9.99 for macOS

Install: iOS, macOS

5. NewsBlur

Want a powerhouse solution for taking care of all your feed management needs? Look no further than NewsBlur. Toting a whole bunch of goodies, NewsBlur is a pretty great RSS feed aggregator, and a solid Feedly alternative. It has a variety of topics (e.g. travel and geography) that can be selected for building a pre-curated feed, and of course, you can add your own websites as well. NewsBlur includes different reading modes (feed, text etc.), which can be used to view/read the feed stories the way you like.

Your favorite stories can be saved for later reading, as well as shared on numerous social networks like Twitter, Instapaper, Tumblr, and Delicious. The feed layout can be customized, and handy keyboard shortcuts make navigating your feed a breeze. However, perhaps the highlight feature of NewsBlur has to be its Intelligence Trainer, which can be used to train NewsBlur to automatically filter your feed with curated stories, based on specified parameters like author name and categories.

So if you want the whole deal, you can upgrade to the premium account which removes all these restrictions, and provides other features such as full story searching, private sharing, and stuff like that.

6. Flipboard

Many think that Flipboard is all about news recommendation, but it also offers an option to add your news sources which makes it very much like Feedly. It has something called Magazine, under which you can add your favorite news outlets, blogs, Medium channels and it will automatically organize your feed into several categories such as social, politics, science, etc. Other than that, it also comes with later reading and bookmarks feature. However, keep in mind, Flipboard is not as feature-packed as Feedly and does not have key features like feed grouping and mark read support. Anyway, if you are looking for personalized news service with decent RSS reader backed in then Flipboard can be a good alternative to Feedly.

7. G2Reader

The lightweight G2Reader makes quick work of reading the latest updates from your subscribed feeds. Toting the standard dual column UI, G2Reader lists all regular sub-sections (e.g. starred items, unread) in the left, while showing up the feed stories in the right. Quite a nice Feedly alternative if you ask me! Once you add your feeds (which is as simple as hitting the Add a new subscription button on the top left), the latest stories are displayed in nice looking individual boxes, with each box having quick sharing buttons for instant sharing on web services like Twitter, Google Plus, Buffer, Pocket, and of course, Email.

Best Feedly Alternatives - G2DReader

An interesting feature of G2Reader is its Trending section, which shows the currently popular stories/articles on the web. Other than that, ther’s full text search functionality, as well as cross-device syncing. The basic account of G2Reader limits the maximum feeds and items per feed to 100, and is advertising supported. To get more features, you can upgrade to the paid account, which removes these restrictions, and also provides additional goodies like customized feed updates and premium customer support.

10 Best Microsoft PowerPoint Alternatives You Can Use

Whenever presentation forays into my landscape, Microsoft PowerPoint is probably the first thing that strikes my mind. With a ton of professionally-designed templates, layouts, fonts, icons and more, it is a one-stop platform for creating, customizing, and collaborating on visual stories. With that said, PowerPoint does have quite a few age-old downsides like the not-so-clean interface and a feature set that warrants a steep learning curve. Moreover, the service lacks the flair to engage the audience with visually appealing templates. Not to mention, the premium cost of Microsoft Office 365 ($99.99/year or $9.99/month) that doesn’t fit into everyone’s budget. If these shortcomings have forced you to switch your loyalty, now is the right time to explore the best Microsoft PowerPoint alternatives of 2019.

Best Microsoft PowerPoint Alternatives You Should Try

Before taking a dive into the roundup, it would be wise to jot down a few points so that you can find a more suitable alternative for your needs:

Which Presentation App is Better for You?

Remember, words alone won’t do justice to your presentation. Nor will catchy videos or funky-looking images. There are three most vital aspects of an impactful slideshow presentation:

  • And more significantly, seamless presentation of ideas

As to which presentation apps like Microsoft PowerPoint can suit your needs better. Be sure of what you need: full customization, a wide range of pro tools, seamless collaboration, or a simplified experience. Keeping in mind various demands, I have chosen the best alternatives to PowerPoint. And I’m sure you will find at least one presentation app like Microsoft PowerPoint, which can help you creating impressive visual stories for your students, clients, business partners or shareholders. It comes with a super handy smart branding feature that creates a nice color theme for presentations based on your brand color.

As far as analytics is concerned, Prezi is highly efficient, enabling you to track viewers and have better insight so that you will be able to target the follow-up with clarity. Keep “Google Slides” out of the sight at your own peril! In terms of flexibility, Google’s presentation app is way better than Microsoft’s offering. Even on the customization front, it’s not behind either. The app offers a large collection of predefined templates so that you can create a high-quality presentation without being entangled into complexities. You can use images, videos and even drawings to enhance your creativity. Not to mention, there are also several transitions to make your presentation stand out.

Another feature that makes Slides very helpful is “unlimited revision history” that offers you the flexibility to track and undo revisions with ease. A top-notch presentation app like “Visme” can prove to be a boon for professionals. But what makes it a great alternative to PowerPoint is the massive roster of pro tools that can inject impressive charm to visual stories. Apart from having one of the biggest libraries of templates, the app has a solid collection of beautiful images, icons, and fonts.

Unlike PowerPoint, Visme has a clutter-free interface so that creating a top-quality presentation remains hassle-free. Depending on your need, you can audio, video, charts, maps, and even links to make your creations look more engaging. For a simplified experience, OnlyOffice has long been a reliable option. So, if simplicity is what you are searching for in your favorite PowerPoint alternative, you can’t go wrong with this open-source presentation software. The app has put more emphasis on the clean user-interface and that plays a vital role in offering a more convenient presentation creation for enterprise. Whether it’s creating a quick slideshow presentation, editing the existing slides or collaborating with colleagues, it makes the whole process a hassle-free experience.

Being fully integrated with collaboration platforms including mail, CRM, projects, and calendar, OnlyOffice keeps the entire team in sync and enables them to work on the presentation with clarity. Though it lacks a plethora of templates that PowerPoint boasts, it has enough pre-defined templates to meet most demand. In terms of customization tools, I think it excels in most aspects and easily leaves its famous counterpart behind.

The app works effectively with PowerPoint presentations and can save them in PDF, PPT, PPTX, and ODP files. Another feature that can improve your productivity and also save plenty of time is the ability to apply settings in bulk. Talking about the process of making the presentation more engaging, it offers a presenter view mode that allows you to highlight main aspects and also makes it a tad easier to navigate through the entire slideshow. In this regard, OnlyOffice presentation looks more efficient than its famed rival.

In terms of text and object animations, I find Apple’s offering up to the task, if not better than PowerPoint. Using animations like vanish, fade, scale, crumble, you can add more visual appeal to your creativity. But on the collaboration front, Keynote can beat PowerPoint thanks to seamless performance. 10. SlideDog

While I have always rated PowerPoint highly for creating powerful multimedia presentations, I don’t think it’s the best in this regard. In my opinion, “SlideDog” has got almost everything covered to give a strong competition to Microsoft’s offering and even surpass it in many aspects. What has caught my eyes in this presentation platform is the knack to effectively combine Prezis, PDFs, PowerPoints, and other elements to create a stylish playlist.

SlideDog keeps all the elements in their original formats so that they can achieve the expected result. With the live sharing feature, you can easily broadcast your presentation on your channel. All the participants will receive a link and with just a click/tap, they will start watching the presentation. As compared to PowerPoint, SlideDog offers a more intuitive way to control presentation. Thus, you can switch between files, pause videos, change slides, and more without any complexity. Better yet, it also works pretty well in retrieving the feedback of the audience thanks to the questionnaire.

  • Creating powerful multimedia presentations
  • Effectively combine Prezis, PDFs, PowerPoints
  • Keeps all the elements in their original formats

  • Feels sluggish at times
  • The pro version doesn’t offer a compelling price-to-value proposition

Though nowhere near as feature-packed or versatile as Microsoft’s PowerPoint, WPS Office Free is a notable substitute. Whether you are a teacher or an executive, or a student, this presentation app has got most of the bases covered to be a handy asset for you. It’s fully compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint and has support for both PPT and PPTX files. As a result, you will be able to import presentations from PowerPoint and edit them using all the tools that it has.

WPS Office Free

WPS Office has got more than decent formatting tools that include font styles, colors, shapes and more. Thus, giving a suitable appearance to your presentation won’t be a big ask. If you want to go for a bit more customization, over 230 fonts and text effects would come into play really. Like PowerPoint, it also features several slide styles and ready-made templates. Additionally, you can use slide transitions, animations and insert multi-media like videos, images, and audio to make your presentation more impactful. On top of all, it won’t cost you a single penny, unlike PowerPoint.

  • Fully compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Supports both PPT and PPTX files
  • Over 230 fonts and text effects

  • Lacks the versatility of PowerPoint
  • The interface should be better

15 Best Movie Sites to Legally Watch Movies for Free

I can’t remember the last time I downloaded a movie on my laptop or tablet. Both internet speeds and streaming services have improved so much in the past few years that I normally stream all my movies. My streaming habits have increased even more as it has become much more easier to stream movies than downloading them, thanks to a number of great websites which offer streaming capabilities. And while there are tons of paid options out there, I stick to the free ones as they offer quite a good selection of free movies. The best part is that all these services are completely legal, so you don’t have to worry about anything. So, if you are interested in streaming free movies, here are the 15 best movie sites that are legal and free.

Best Movie Sites to Watch Free Movies Legally

1. YouTube Free to Watch Movies

Just a few weeks back, YouTube introduced a new category of movies for its viewers. Dubbed as the “Free to Watch” category, it offers a healthy selection of movies which you can stream without having to pay a dime. All these movies are ad-supported, so they basically work as any other YouTube video. I especially love the movie collection here as YouTube is offering some of the best movies that have ever been produced. At the time of writing this article, there are 99 titles featuring movies such as the Rocky series, Terminator, IP Man, Police Story, and more. If you love free movies, you should definitely check this out.

My favorite and probably my pick for the best movie sites is Tubi. While most of the other services offer movies which are pretty old, thanks to its partnership with movie producers such as Lionsgate, MGM, Starz, and more, Tubi gives you access to a ton of movies which are relatively new. One of the good things about Tubi is that not only does it work on a browser but it also has apps for various platforms including Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and more. To watch movies, you only have to register for a free account (no credit cards required) and you can watch hundreds of hours of free content.

IMDb TV is probably the newest streaming service that allows users to watch movies and TV shows for free. Since IMDb is owned by Amazon, the service is available for free for all FireTV users. However, note that the service is only available in the US. So, if you reside anywhere else, this is not meant for you. The best part about IMDb TV is its collection of free movies and TV shows. While most of the free movie streaming platforms on this list deal with older content, IMDb TV offers a catalog of both old and new movies. Some of the movies that you can stream on IMDb TV include Memento, The Illusionist, Rain Man, Dune, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Jerry Maguire, and more. Apart from these, IMDb is also producing some original content which you cannot find anywhere else. IMDb TV’s content catalog makes it one of the best free movie streaming services in the world.

Thanks to this approach, Vudu gives you access to movies such as Rocky, Predator, Undisputed, Warrior, and more. Robert Downey Jr.’s Instagram Hacked

Celebrity hacks are increasing by the day, even as companies try to implement more security measures. After Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account got hacked a few days back, it looks like Robert Downey Jr’s Instagram has now been hacked.

While we’re not aware as to who hacked the famous actor’s Instagram account, the hackers made a post on his feed about a giveaway, which is most likely fake. Moreover, the hackers also posted a number of giveaways on Robert Downey Jr’s Instagram Stories, in an attempt to make it look like the actor was giving away iPhones, MacBooks, and even Tesla Model X cars, among other things. They have even added the giveaways to RDJ’s highlights on Instagram.

According to a Twitter post from Bosslogic, the hackers changed Robert Downey Jr’s recovery email on Instagram, which would make it incredibly difficult for his social media team to try and regain access to the account.

So apparently the hackers changed @RobertDowneyJr recovery email on @instagram so if there is anyone that works there can help him?

— BossLogic (@Bosslogic) September 6, 2019

In a subsequent tweet, Bosslogic claims that RDJ’s team has gotten a handle on the situation, but it remains to be seen exactly how the hackers managed to gain access to the celebrity’s account in the first place.

8 Best Deepfake Apps and Websites You Can Try for Fun

Deepfake videos are on the rise and this time, a deepfake Chinese app named Zao has taken the internet by storm. It lets you create deepfake videos within seconds and the results look incredibly authentic. While the app is for fun, deepfake videos can be deeply problematic if used for misrepresenting someone, particularly in politics. So in this article, we have carefully selected deepfake apps and websites which are mostly harmless and can be used for research purposes. You can utilize these services for studying machine learning, image recognition, computer vision and of course, for fun too. Now having said that, let’s go through the list without any delay.

Best Deepfake Apps and Websites

We have included 8 best deepfake apps and services keeping fun element, privacy and research use-case in mind. Depending on what you want, you can comfortably choose the best deepfake app. Now having said that, let’s begin the list.

1. Zao

Zao is the latest app which has gone viral in China for its ingenious capability to create deepfake videos within seconds. You can choose a video clip from its library which includes scenes from Chinese drama series, Big Bang Theory, popular Hollywood movies, and more. Within a few seconds, Zao creates a seemingly authentic deepfake video which frankly looks natural and indistinguishable from the original video. The surprising bit is that the app takes only a few seconds, unlike powerful computers which can take hours to train Generative Adversarial Network responsible for creating deepfake video.

1 zao

Regarding availability, Zao app is only released in China for both Android and iOS users. You can sideload the app on Android, but can’t use it because Zao requires a Chinese phone number for signing up. However, we managed to test the Zao app in India and it does work for the most part. In our testing, we found that on Indian faces, it does not look as natural as you would expect. It might be because Zao is mostly trained on Chinese facial data. Nevertheless, Zao is an interesting app and you can try it once it becomes available to everyone.

2 zao

Note: The company behind Zao app had earlier mentioned in the user agreement that they can reuse imagery created on its app for all purposes. However, after heavy criticism, they retracted the controversial passage. Nevertheless, if you are concerned about your privacy, we advise you to not use the app at all.

2. Deepfakes web β

Deepfakes web β is a web service which lets you create deepfake videos on the web. It uses Deep learning to absorb the various complexities of face data. Deepfakes web β can take up to 4 hours to learn and train from video and images whereas it takes another 30 minutes to swap the faces using the trained model. Even though it uses powerful GPU on the cloud, it can take hours to render all the data. It goes on to show that creating deepfake video is no child’s play and seeing Zao do it within seconds is truly game-changing. Anyway, if you want to try deepfake video for research in computer vision, you can go for Deepfakes web β.

3. AvengeThem

If you are a Marvel fan, AvengeThem is the best way to experience deepfake videos. It’s a website which lets you swap your face with a Marvel character in GIFs. In essence, it’s not a complete deepfake app as the website creates a static 3D model of your face. However, at times, it does work really good and looks authentic. There are a total of 18 GIFs from Marvel Cinematic Universe including Star-Lord, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America and more. You can choose to become a superhero as you want and can also share the GIF with your friends. Simply put, if you want to enjoy deepfake videos with your favorite Marvel character, AvengeThem is for you. I tested this website and it works quite fast and the results are surprisingly good.

4. MachineTube

MachineTube is another website which lets you create deepfake videos on your computer. It does not use cloud computing like Deepfakes web β, instead relies on your computer’s horsepower. It means two things: you need a powerful PC preferably with a high-end GPU and at least 2 GB of VRAM. Secondly, it may take hours before you get the final deepfake video which very much depends on your computer’s resources. MachineTube uses its highly advanced deep learning algorithm to process the image data. You have to upload video, image samples and then MachineTube starts swapping the faces. There are also few pre-defined models like Kanye – Obama, Rock – Cage and more. Having said that, the best part about MachineTube is that it’s completely free and that is awesome. So, if you are a researcher or want to explore deepfake videos for fun, you can try MachineTube.

DeepFaceLab is a Windows program that allows you to create deepfake videos. It’s primarily built for researchers and students of computer vision. However, if you want to learn about deepfake videos, you can definitely try this tool. It uses machine learning and human image synthesis to replace faces in videos. Since DeepFaceLab is an advanced tool mostly for researchers, the interface is not user-friendly and you will have to learn its usage from the documentation. Again, it goes without saying that you need a powerful PC with a dedicated high-end GPU. Simply put, if you are a student specializing in computer vision, DeepFaceLab can be a great tool to understand deepfake videos.

6. Deep Art

Deep Art is another app which went viral a few weeks ago. It’s not a deepfake video app, however, it can create deepfake images based on art, ancient structures, and paintings. While there are many apps that have similar features, the unique part about Deep Art is that it uses AI to turn any photo into an artwork. The highly advanced algorithm is said to have inspired by the human brain and uses stylistic elements of popular artworks to recreate artistic images. Deep Art is trained by the works of various artists which include Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Picasso, and more. And the good part is that there is no privacy issue with this app. If you want to try something artsy, Deep Art is the best app to try.

7. Face Swap Live

Face Swap is not entirely a deepfake app, but it does let you switch faces with your friend or a photo in videos. You can record videos, put stickers, take photos and directly post on social media. What I like about this app is that, unlike other face swap apps, it’s not that static and there is some degree of movement on the face. There are also 3D effects, interactive face warping with several masks and effects. All in all, if you are looking for a deepfake app, Face Swap Live can be a great Zao alternative for the time being.
