10 Tips to Improve Security and Privacy in iOS 13

Saying iOS 13 is feature-packed seems to be an understatement. As someone who puts security and privacy over cool customization, eye-catching gimmicks, and crazy tweaks, I have found the latest iteration of iOS to be a huge upgrade. That is not to suggest that the predecessors like iOS 12 or even 11 lacked the tools to safeguard sensitive data or prevent tracking. All I’m trying to emphasis is that iOS 13 appears to be in line with Apple’s ambitious vision of creating a secure mobile operating system. And that’s exactly what has compelled me to jot down some of the best tips to improve security and privacy in iOS 13 and of course the newly rolled out iPadOS 13.

Best Tips to Enhance Security and Privacy in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13

So, if the anonymous location tracking, grave profiling of user data or the safety of the sensitive files stored on your iPhone or iPad have forced you to tighten up the shield, you have chosen the right post to take you through the steps. In this long roster of tips, I have included almost all the new privacy and security features of iOS 13. Besides, I have also mentioned some of the very helpful features that have existed on iOS for long so that your personal files, iTunes & App Store purchases, and more get an ideal defense to ward off unauthorized access. With that said, let’s dive across!

1. Securely Sign in to Apps and Websites with Apple

From the privacy and security point of view, this one is probably the biggest iOS 13 feature. So, it’s befitting to put this feature right at the top. It allows you to quickly sign in to the supported apps and websites with the Apple ID. To prevent anyone from misusing your email, it creates and shares a unique email ID with apps and also offers the option to hide your email.

Plus, the built-in two-factor authentication shields your account against hacking. What’s more, Apple says that it doesn’t track or profile the data of the apps or websites you use. Considering how particular the tech giant is about security and privacy, you can trust your data to stay safer and away from the prying eyes.

How to Sign In With Apple

“Sign in with Apple” works with not only iOS 13, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6, macOS Catalina and tvOS 13 but also Android and Windows. So, it doesn’t matter which platform you are on, you can use this feature to sign in to apps and services securely. Keep in mind, your Apple ID must have two-factor authentication enabled else you won’t be able to use this security feature. Besides, children under the age of 13 are not allowed to use it.

If an app or website supports it, you should see a Sign in with the Apple button on the sign-in page. Though it automatically fills in your name and Apple ID, you can choose to edit your name and also show or hide your email. Then, you will need to authenticate using your Face or Touch ID.

2. Remove Location Metadata from Photos and Videos

The next tip in line is about wiping out geotags before sharing photos and videos. Yeah, you could do it on earlier versions of iOS as well using some workarounds but the process had never been so simple before. Keeping in mind the security threats, it’s advisable to get rid of the location metadata before sharing the images on social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter. Simply open Photos app > Choose the images you want to share > Share button > Options > and then disable the switch that is placed right next to Locations. To find out more about it, head over to this quick guide.

Wipe Out Geotags from Videos and Photos on iOS 13

3. Restrict iTunes & App Store Purchases

Well, the unexpected thing has happened with me many a time – courtesy my three-year-old kid who never fails to try his hands on apps! On some occasions, he would trigger the download of many apps. On the other times, he would delete several apps. When these actions became way too frequent, I decided to put an end to them. And that’s how I found the option to restrict iTunes & App Store purchases quite helpful. Even if you don’t hand over your device to kids, it’s always better to have restrictions on iTunes and App Store purchases so that no one can interfere with them.

  1. Head over to the Settings app and tap on Screen Time.
  2. Now, tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions (now ensure that the switch for Content & Privacy Restrictions is turned on) and choose iTunes & App Store Purchases.

Restrict iTunes and App Store purchases

3. On the next screen, you should see three options under Store Purchases and Re-Downloads. Tap on each option and then choose Don’t Allow. Under Require Password section, choose Always Require.

Don't allow anyone to download or delete apps on iPhone

That’s it! Going forward, no one will be able to delete apps or install even free apps without your permission.

4. Share Your Location with Apps Only Once

With iOS 13, you can monitor how often apps are tracking you and also get to know the prime reason behind it. Whenever an app gets access to your location data, you will receive a popup notification, giving a brief reason behind tracking your location. Besides, you will also get three options to choose from:

Choose Allow Once in the popup notification - Security and Privacy in iOS 13

  • Allow While Using App: Let the app have access to your location data while you are using it.
  • Allow Once: Allow the app to access your location only once.
  • Don’t Allow: Disallow the app from tracking your location.

Choose the second option to let the app use your location data only once. For more control, you can head over to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Now, tap on the specific app which location access you want to fine-tune. Then, choose the desired option as per your needs.

Control Location Services access

5. Location Alerts

Another notable security feature that has arrived in the latest iteration of iOS is Location Alerts. Whenever an app is tracking your location in the background, iOS will send you a popup notification along with the map of the location data that the app has used. It is to ensure that you remain in complete control of your data. So, make sure to keep this feature enabled to monitor the location data that any app uses. To do so, jump over to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Alerts > Now, be sure that the toggle for Show Map in Location Alerts is on.

Turn on Location Alerts

6. Restrict Store Content

iOS offers you great control over what sort of content you want to watch, read or access on your device. For instance, you can choose to keep explicit music, podcasts, books, and news out of sight. Besides, there is also an option to restrict the apps that are not designed for children. Well, this is exactly what you would like to have to control the kind of content your children read or watch on the iPhone or iPad.

Option to restrict store content - Security and Privacy in iOS 13

To restrict content, open Settings app > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > (make sure the toggle for Content & Privacy Restrictions is on) Content Restrictions. On this screen, you have a ton of options to customize restrictions on content. You can choose to set the ratings of content based on a specific country, limit adult websites, stop Siri from using an explicit language, and even stop your kids from playing multiplayer games.

7. Hide Notification Previews

Private conversations must have an additional shield to remain away from the sight of those who enjoy sticking their nose into others’ business. So, if you often indulge with some private messaging, you better hide notification previews. It can go a long way in ensuring your messages stay away from snooping eyes. To do it, hop into Settings app > Notifications > Show Previews > choose Never. Going forward, the notifications will directly land into the respective apps.

Hide Notification Previews

8. Disallow Control Center Access from Lock Screen

From a convenience point of view, it’s great to have access to Control Center right from the lock screen. Simply swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen or swipe down from the top right corner to bring up the control center and then take control of several things like brightness, power mode, internet connection, AirPlay quickly – without hoping to dive into the Settings app. That’s as straightforward as it can ever get. But is it great from a security perspective? I don’t think so.

Anyone can access the Control Center of your device and make several changes even without your permission. If you don’t want anyone to tinker with the Control Center, disallow CC access from Lock Screen. It’s pretty simple to do.

  1. Open the Settings app on your device and tap on Face/Touch ID & Passcode. Then, you will need to enter your passcode.

Launch Settings app and choose Face ID & Passcode

2. Now, scroll down to Allow Access When Locked section. Next, turn off the switch for Control Center.

Disallow access to Control Center from Lock Screen

On this very section, you have the option to disable the access to many other features like Siri, Reply with Message, Home Control, Wallet, Notification Center, and Today View from the Lock screen. Depending on your needs, turn off the switches for respective features.

9. Disallow Changes to Location Services

Based on my preference, I customize all the settings including those of Location Services. And I want them to stay that way until I change my mind. So, any tinkering with the settings without my permission is unwarranted (oh, it even infuriates me no end). If you belong to the same school of thought, you would indeed appreciate this tip as it allows you to prevent anyone from making any changes to Location Services settings.

Disallow changes to Location Services settings

To get it done, all you need to do is head over to Settings app > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and make sure the toggle for Content & Privacy Restrictions is on. Then, tap on Location Services under the Privacy section. After that choose, Don’t Allow Changes.

10. Automatically Erase Data After 10 Failed Passcode Attempts

Well, this security feature has existed on iOS for long. So, even if you are running an older version of iOS, you can take advantage of it to safeguard your sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands. What it does is automatically wipe out the entire data of your iPhone and iPad after 10 failed attempts.

It could turn out to be a savior of your data when your device is lost and someone tries to unlock it to access your personal files, photos, videos or anything that you have stored. So, do not miss out on this one, if your priority lies with offering a strong shield to your sensitive information stored on the device.

  1. To automatically delete the data of your iOS device, open the Settings app and then tap on Face ID/Touch ID & Passcode.

Launch Settings app and choose Face ID & Passcode2. Now, enter the passcode of your device.

Enter passcode

3. Next, scroll down and turn on the switch for Erase Data. Then, tap on Enable to confirm.

Enable Erase Data option - Security and Privacy in iOS 13

Enhance Privacy and Security Using These iOS 13 Tips

So, that’s how you can double down on the privacy and security of your data by getting the most out of the features like Sign in with Apple and Location Alerts. Though nothing can guarantee you an impeccable shield to your personal info, these features can go a long way in keeping threats at bay. By the way, have I missed out on some important security features? Do not forget to share them with me in the comments down below.

How to Set Up Noise App to Measure Decibel Levels with Apple Watch

Along with Cycle Tracking, the Noise app is the biggest highlight of watchOS 6. With the help of the microphone and the duration of exposure, the app measures the environmental sound levels. And when Apple Watch detects that the decibel level has exceeded the set threshold and could damage your hearing, it alerts you with a gentle tap on the wrist. By default, the app notifies whenever the noise level goes past 90 decibels. However, depending on your hearing health, you can choose from multiple options like 80 or 85 decibels to stay away from the loud environment. In this guide, I’m going to walk you through the quick steps to set up the Noise app to measure decibel levels with Apple Watch. So, let’s get started!

Note: Despite the fact that watchOS 6 is being released to all the previous generations of Apple Watches barring the original Apple Watch, the Noise App will only come to the latest Apple Watch Series 5 and the previous generation Series 4 Apple Watch.

How to Use Noise App in watchOS 6 on Apple Watch

According to the World Health Organization, at 80 decibels, the volume could destroy the hearing after 5 hours and 30 minutes of exposure each day. And if the sound level goes up to 100db, the hearing could be damaged after just 3 minutes of exposure per day. Well, it just goes on to show why we must refrain from repeated and long-term exposure to loud sound.

Set Up Noise App on Apple Watch

1. Launch Noise app on your Apple Watch.

Launch Noise app on your Apple Watch

2. Now, tap on Enable to start monitoring the noise levels.

Enable Noise measuring on Apple Watch

Going forward, you can use the Noise app to measure the environmental noise around you.

Note: Water and wind might have an impact on the accuracy of sound levels. During water-based activities, try using Water Lock (from the control center). It’s also worth noting that measurements are stopped when you are using Water Lock, microphone, or speaker on your smartwatch.

Define Noise Threshold and Turn on Noise Notifications

1. Open Apple Watch app on the companion iPhone and ensure that My Watch tab is selected at the bottom.

Launch Watch app

2. Now, tap on Noise and choose Enable on the next screen.

Turn on Noise Notifications

3. Next, tap on a Noise Threshold located under Noise Notifications and then select a preferred option. By default, 90 decibels is selected. According to the World Health Organization, at 90 decibels the volume may damage the hearing after 30 minutes of exposure every day.

  • 80 decibels, Limit: About 5hr 30min / day
  • 85 decibels, Limit: 1hr 45min / day
  • 90 decibels, Limit: 30min / day
  • 95 decibels, Limit: 10 min / day
  • 100 decibels, Limit: 3 min / day

Set Up Noise Threshold

Once you have configured the noise threshold, the app will send you notifications whenever the sound level exceeds that limit.

Track Environmental Sound Levels Using Your Apple Watch and iPhone

Once you have set the Noise app, you can check the noise levels of your environment right from your Apple Watch or the iPhone.

1. Open the Noise app on your Apple Watch.

2. Now, a live-updating bar graph will display the noise level of your environment.

Check noise level on Apple Watch

Under the graph, you should see a brief explanation of the sound levels. If you are exposed to a loud environment, it would warn you to stay away from that or use protection. But if the decibel level is normal, it would say that the long-term exposure to this sound won’t affect your hearing. Besides, you can also use the Noise watch face complication to track the live updates about the noise level of your environment with ease.

How to Check Out the Noise Level from Your iPhone

  1. Launch the Health app on your iPhone and then tap on the Browse tab at the bottom of the screen.

View Noise Levels

2. Next, tap on Hearing and choose Environmental Sound Levels.

tap on Hearing and choose Environmental Sound Levels

Now, you can view information related to environmental sound levels on the screen.

Check noise decibels

Note: On this very screen, there is also an option to check the audio levels of your headphone. It could be helpful when you want the audio level to stay within the limit.

Disable Noise Measuring on Apple Watch

Maybe you no longer find the Noise app helpful or think that you can live without it. Whatever could be your personal reason, you can turn off noise measuring on your Apple Watch with ease.

  1. Simply open the Settings app on your Apple Watch and choose Noise.

Launch Settings app on Apple Watch - set up- noise app

2. Now, tap on Environmental Sound Measurements and turn off the switch for Measure Sound.

Measure Environmental sound

There is also a quick way to disable noise measuring from the paired iPhone. Just launch the Watch app on your iPhone > My Watch tab > Noise > and then turn off the switch for Environmental Sound Measurements.

How to Recover Deleted Files on Mac with Ease

Take a breath, mate. There is nothing so unusual about it. I can assure you that retrieving the accidentally deleted data on macOS is not a big deal. In fact, if you haven’t yet emptied the Trash, those items will be safe there. And you can bring them back to life with a simple drag and drop gesture. Whatever is the case with you, let me show you how you can retrieve those deleted items on your macOS device!

1. Recover Deleted Files from Trash on Mac

The files that you put in the Trash stay there until you permanently delete them from there. However, even if you don’t delete the items, they stay in the Trash for just 30 days. After that, they are automatically deleted. Supposing you haven’t cleaned up your items permanently or it has not been thirty days since your last cleanup, follow the quick steps to recover your files.

1. Launch Trash on your Mac.

2. Now, find the item you want to cover and then right-click on it.

3. Next, select Put Back. That’s it! Finder will now automatically place the item in its previous folder.

Retrieve all the deleted files on Mac

Alternately, you can just drag the respective file and drop it at the desired place. Besides, you can use the Command-Z in the Finder to undo the Move to Trash command.

2. Make Sure to Check the Other Trash Can

Wondering what this other Trash can is? Well, let me tell you that each external storage device (i.e USB flash drive or external hard drive) that you use with your Mac gets separate trash can so that you can handle the files with a bit more convenience. However, this other trash (.Trashes) is slightly under the wraps for security reasons (and a ton of others).

To view hidden files in Finder, use the SHIFT+CMD+. keyboard shortcut on your Mac running macOS Sierra or later. Even if your Mac is running the older OS X versions, you can still enable hidden files in Finder using Terminal command.

  1. Open the “Terminal” app on your Mac and then paste the below given commands. Make sure to hit enter after each line.
defaults write AppleShowAllFiles TRUE killall Finder

2. You can now view your files in.Trashes” folder and retrieve the ones that are important to you. Once your work is done, I would recommend you hide this folder again for security purposes simply by replacing “TRUE” with “FALSE” on the first line.

defaults write AppleShowAllFiles FALSE killall Finder

3. Restore Items Backed Up with Time Machine

From what I have experienced over the years, I can say that it really pays to keep the backup of everything that matters to you so that even if something goes wrong, you will continue to be on the safer side of the spectrum. And this is where Time Machine has a role to play. So, if you have used this super handy macOS feature, you can comfortably get back all of your lost items on your Mac.

  1. To get going, fire up Time Machine on your Mac. The quickest way to get it done is by using Spotlight.

2. Now, you can use the arrows and timeline to browse all the backups.

3. Once you have found the items you would like to retrieve, click Restore and you are ready to go!

4. Restore Past Versions of Documents on Mac

One thing worth noting is that you can also open Time Machine within apps on your macOS device and browse through different document versions. macOS automatically saves a new version generally every hour. However, when you make changes to your files, it saves them more frequently.

  1. Open a document on your Mac. Make sure to open the folder of the files you deleted.

2. Now, select File and click on Revert To.

Click on Revert To

3. Next, click on Browse All Versions. Now, you can click tick marks along the timeline to scan through different versions.

Restore documents using Time Machine

4. When you have found the version you wish to restore, click Restore. If you want to duplicate this version in a new document, simply press and hold the Option key and select Restore a Copy.

5. Recover Older Versions of Documents in iCloud

iCloud to your rescue! Yeah, if you have turned iCloud Drive on your Mac, you don’t need to worry about losing your files as you will be able to recover older versions of documents in iCloud with ease.

  1. To get started, launch the app you had used to create the document on your Mac.

2. Now, click on File and choose Open.

Restore files using iCloud Drive

3. Next, click iCloud Drive located in the Favorites section of the Finder sidebar. Now, browse through the older versions of your files and restore them with ease.

6. Recover Permanently Deleted Files Using EaseUS Data Recovery Software on Mac

Just in case, you have cleaned up the entire Trash along with the important items, an efficient data recovery software can get the job done for you. In this test, I’m going to use EaseUS Data Recovery Software as it’s a bit more reliable and also offers a free trial. Do note that the freemium version of this tool is limited and will let you only scan and preview the lost data. If you want to recover your items, you will need to get the pro version $69.95/$99.90.

  1. Download EaseUS Data Recovery Software on your Mac and launch it.

2. Now, choose the location where the files were deleted. After that, click on the Scan button.

Click on Scan in EaseUS3. Next, the data recovery software will perform a deep scan to retrieve the deleted files. You can view the scan results in the left pane. Then, select the files you wish to get back and click on Recover Now. Now, wait for some time until the process is complete.

Note: You may be asked to allow the macOS to load the extension. Click on Allow to continue.

Would you like to explore more efficient data recovery tools for Mac? Just in case, you aren’t pleased with EaseUS or want to take a peek at some other alternatives, here are a couple of notable options.

Other Apps to Recover Data on Mac

1. Recoverit

When it comes to retrieving data fast and securely, Wondershare’s Recoverit is up to the mark. Just like EaseUS, the software performs an in-depth scan on your Mac and shows the deleted files. Then, you can browse through the items and restore the ones that you want. The one notable feature of Recoverit is that it can restore the data even if your macOS device is repeatedly crashing. Moreover, Recoverit sports a more intuitive interface than its counterpart. As for pricing, it’s on the expensive side of the spectrum as the basic plan starts at $79.94/year/PC. But given the high efficiency, Recoverit is worth serious consideration.

Pricing: $79.94/year/pc

2. Data Rescue

Another Mac data recovery software that has caught my eyes is “Data Rescue”. Whether you want to retrieve your deleted photos, videos or any sensitive file, you can count on this software to deliver the goods. The app has a modern-looking interface and works a litter faster than both the tools mentioned above in scanning and showing the deleted files. In terms of ease of use, it’s on par – if not ahead. Just like EaseUS, it also offers a demo version so that you can try out the software before buying the full version. As far as pricing is concerned, Data Rescue’s standard version comes at $99 (5 drives/unlimited recoveries).

Prosoft Data Rescue Software for Mac

Pricing: $99.94 (5 drives/unlimited recoveries)

That’s pretty much it!

Instagram Music Goes Live in India; Here’s How It Works

Did you feel jealous when you saw music stickers in an Instagram Story but couldn’t listen to what someone had shared? Or did you feel frustrated upon seeing the ‘Instagram Music is not available in your region’ error? Well, you can put your worries behind as the much-awaited Instagram Music feature is finally available in India.

Yeah, you can finally add music stickers to your Instagram Stories and share them with the world. Instagram added the ability to add music to your Story back in June this year, but it was restricted to a select few countries. This feature went live in India today, allowing users to add official music tracks to their Story from a library of popular songs – both regional and international.

The Instagram Music feature is divided into three sections – popular, moods, and genres. While picking a track for your Instagram Story, you can either go for an overplayed song from the popular section or search for a perfect track based on the Story’s content.

The “moods” section includes 10 different moods such as romantic, upbeat, mellow, love songs, and a lot more. Same is the case with the “genres” section that lets you pick from among Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, and a lot more. Now that you’ve got the feature, here’s how music stickers are used in Instagram Stories:

How to Use Instagram Music in Stories

Note: I tried this feature on Instagram build # on my Nokia 7 Plus, running Android 9 Pie and build #111.0 on my iPhone XR, running iOS 13 beta.

1. Open Instagram and swipe left from the feed to open the camera UI. You can use the Instagram Music feature in two ways – either pick the “Music” camera mode from the UI or click a picture and overlay an Instagram Music sticker or lyrics on the Story.

2. First, let’s talk about the “Music” camera mode. When you switch to it, you will first be prompted to pick a song, followed by video effects such as Glitch, Pulse, Vintage, VCR, and Glow.

3. You can then snap a picture or record a video to see the Music sticker appear over your Instagram Story and the track you selected playing in the background. It’s awesome, right?

4. Moving on, here’s how you can add an Instagram Music sticker or display lyrics on the Story. Capture a photo or record a video. Swipe up from the bottom and select the new ‘music’ sticker option.

5. You will now have to pick a track of your liking (suppose Bad Guy by Billie Eilish). And then, you will see options to adjust the timestamp from where you want to start playing the song, along with lyrics in different fonts and sticker styles.

6. Once you’ve followed any of the 2 aforementioned methods and created an Instagram Story with music in it, well, all that’s left to do is sharing it with the followers. Users who view your Story will be able to listen to the track and see a sticker for the same.

7. In an Instagram Story, users can tap the Music sticker to play a 1-minute section of the track, see the artist’s profile, and add the sticker to your story. Yeah, it’s a really handy feature for users like me who love to share songs (previously via Spotify) on their Story.

How to Fix Ping in PUBG Mobile [New Methods – 2019]

PUBG is one of the most popular online multiplayer games and frankly, we have no qualms in accepting that fact. However, while the game’s servers are adequate, sometimes we face issues like higher pings which make the gameplay completely unresponsive. While some users may have a slow internet connection, even users with better connectivity can’t seem to get ping below 100 ms in some cases. So to resolve this issue, we have come up with this article where we have listed out 8 ways to fix ping in PUBG mobile. We have kept the guide pretty simple and straightforward so no worries there. With that said, let’s get started.

8 Ways to Reduce Ping in PUBG Mobile

Here, we have mentioned 8 different techniques which can considerably bring down ping while playing PUBG. All the steps are quite simple and you don’t need root access to achieve low ping in PUBG. Now without wasting any time, let’s jump right in.

Note: I am using Redmi K20 Pro as my test device so the Settings might be similar across all the Xiaomi devices. However, if you are using a device from another OEM, the Settings may vary slightly. In that case, look around the Settings page and search for similar strings and you will likely find the dedicated Settings menu. If you can’t find them, comment your problems with your device name below and we will help you out.

1. Use Native Game Booster

Of late, smartphones are coming with inbuilt game boosters which are designed to reduce background activities so that you can have smooth gameplay. The boosters can optimize the performance of the device, bring down latency and prioritize the bandwidth for the current game. These native boosters can also stop background apps from accessing network, memory, and crucial resources while playing games. So the bottom line is, control the background syncing and you will have lower ping on PUBG Mobile.

1. Use Native Game Booster

If you are using a Xiaomi device, you can enable Game Turbo settings on your smartphone under the Mi Security app. And if you are using a OnePlus device, you can enable Gaming Mode by following Settings -> Utilities -> Gaming Mode. Similarly, devices from other OEMs have different strokes of settings so go through your Settings page and you would find something like gaming mode.

1. Use Native Game Booster

In case, your device does not have a dedicated game booster, you can download the Game Booster app from the Play Store and it should fix ping in PUBG mobile.

Install Game Booster (Free, in-app purchases)

2. Control WiFi Settings

If you are playing PUBG on WiFi with a good internet connection and still ping is abnormally high then you may have to manually configure the WiFi settings. Open the Settings page and go to WiFi. Here, look for “Advanced” or “Additional Settings”. Now, look for the Traffic mode and change it to “Extreme Mode”. It will re-route all network resources to the current application which will eventually lead to lower ping.

2. Control WiFi Settings

3. Disable Background Syncing

Another way to fix ping in PUBG Mobile is to stop background syncing of apps manually. You can do so on any Android device by opening Settings and going to Apps. Here, select the suspicious app and tap on “Restrict data usage”. Now, uncheck “WLANWiFi” and “Mobile data” both. Similarly, you can configure the “Battery Saver” settings to restrict background activity.

3. Disable Background Syncing

4. Try Third-party Tools

If the above steps didn’t reduce ping in PUBG Mobile then you can try some third-party tools. GFX Tool is quite a popular app among smartphone gamers and you can use it to lower the ping while playing games. Change the following settings for low-latency PUBG gaming: graphics to 720p, rendering quality to medium or low, disable shadows and light effects and lastly, enable GPU optimization. This should bring down ping in PUBG.

4. Try Third-party Tools GFX TOOL

Install GFX Tool (Free, in-app purchases)

You can also use another app called Mobile Gaming Ping to reduce latency. The app can improve the server-client connection with a one-tap button.

Install Mobile Gaming Ping (Free)

Install Mobile Gaming Ping (Free)

5. Change Server

Sometimes due to heavy load, PUBG servers can’t keep up with multiple requests and that leads to a higher ping rates. So, you can simply change the server in PUBG Mobile and see if ping is dropping below 100. Besides that, you can also use a VPN which will connect you to a different server. I have tested the Turbo VPN and it’s among the best free VPNs out there with excellent response time. So, install the VPN and change the location to your own country and try playing PUBG. You should have a lower ping this time.

5. Change Server

Install Turbo VPN (Free, in-app purchases)

6. Manage Space

If your smartphone storage is full and there are some space constraints, you should clean up your device for enabling smooth gameplay. There are many apps which create GBs of cache memory even if you don’t use those often. So, go to Settings and open Apps and then clean the cache memory of suspicious apps. It should hopefully result in better ping in PUBG Mobile.

6. Manage Space

7. Repair PUBG

If everything fails, you can always repair PUBG using the inbuilt settings. On the login screen, tap the “Repair” button and it will re-install PUBG from scratch. However, do note that it will reset all your gaming configurations and custom controls. Nevertheless, it should significantly reduce ping while playing PUBG.

7. Repair PUBG

8. Get a 5GHz WiFi Router

So, you have a great internet connection and did everything mentioned above, but still you can’t seem to reduce the ping below 100 ms then your router might be the culprit. Nowadays, our homes are filled with tons of smart devices which operate in the same 2.4GHz range. It makes the 2.4GHz frequency range extremely congested and if there are already other users hogging on your router then the latency becomes even worse. So, getting a 5GHz router will allow you to connect with the server much faster without any delay in response. The bottom line remains, go for the 5GHz router and enjoy PUBG lag-free with zero latency.

How to Check MacBook Pro Battery Health

Maybe you have noticed a drastic reduction in your MacBook Pro’s battery life recently or just wish to find out the actual condition of the battery of your notebook. Whatever could be your personal reason, checking MacBook Pro’s (or any MacBook’s) battery health is pretty straightforward. While most modern MacBooks come with batteries rated 1000 charge cycles, the older ones like MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2008) and MacBook Air (Late 2008) feature batteries rated 500 and 300 charge cycles respectively. The methods I have mentioned below will help you determine if your battery has passed those charge cycle limits and are in need of a change if you want the best battery life for your Macs.

Check MacBook Pro Battery Health: Two Methods Explained

macOS makes it a lot easier to keep track of the MacBooks battery including the cycle count. And there are a couple of ways to get it done. Let me show you how it works!

Check MacBook’s Battery Health from Status Bar

  1. First off, while holding the option key, click the battery icon that is located in the status bar at the top right of the screen.
  2. Now, you should see the battery health of your MacBook/MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. It would be shown as: Normal, Replace Soon, Replace Now, or Service Battery.

Check Battery health using battery icon on MacBook

While this is the easiest method, it won’t show you the specifics of battery health. If you want more information, you should use the method mentioned below.

Check MacBook’s Battery Health from System Preferences

  1. Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen and choose About This Mac.

Click on Apple Menu and choose About This Mac

2. Now, click System Report.

Click on System Report

3. Next, click on Power.

Check MacBook's Battery Health from System Preferences

In the window, you can see plenty of info related to your battery. On this very screen, you can also check the cycle count that can provide a better picture of how much life the battery has still got. As you can see, the condition of my MacBook Pro is normal. And the cycle count is 152 which shows that the maximum full cycle is still a long way away.

Get In-Depth Battery Health Status Using Coconut Battery

While the above two methods should be enough for most users to determine if they need to replace Mac’s battery or not, if you want even more detailed information, you can install a free Mac utility called Coconut Battery (free, in-app purchases). This simple utility will help you see the age of your Mac’s battery, how often it was charged, and even more such relevant information. Not only that, you can even connect your iOS devices to your Mac to check their battery life status using the same app.

Keep a Track of the Battery Health of Your MacBook…

That’s how you can keep an eye on the battery health of your Apple notebook. Though the battery of most MacBooks can comfortably deliver 1000 charge cycles, their lifespan may be reduced if you don’t offer the needed care of the battery. Always avoid exposing your notebooks to ambient temperatures higher than 35° C as it can completely damage the battery capacity. Besides, never charge your device in the high ambient temperatures. With that information, we will end this article. Do share your thoughts in the comments section below.
