Amazon and Airtel have announced a strategic alliance to offer cloud-based digital solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. In a joint press release on Wednesday, the companies announced that the Indian operator will take advantage of the US e-commerce giant’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) network for that purpose. The alliance will also accelerate digital transformation in the country, the press release said.
As part of the partnership, Airtel Cloud will build an AWS cloud practice and offer differentiated Airtel Cloud products. Upcoming offerings will take advantage of AWS, as well as Airtel data centers and other telecommunications and networking offerings. Aimed at both SMEs and large companies, the new products will provide comprehensive solutions for a variety of sectors. Airtel Cloud is the telecommunications company’s cloud-based business solution that offers new-age services in the areas of big data, analytics, crowdsourcing and cognitive services.
According to the press release, Airtel Cloud will offer customers a range of services and solutions, including migration and assessments, data analytics that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), modernization of applications, data storage and Internet of Things Services (IoT). The services would help companies adopt new services and migrate to the cloud from legacy infrastructures, Airtel said.
Meanwhile, Amazon expressed hope that its AWS network in the country will help SMEs subscribe to new Airtel services. Announcing the link, Puneet Chandok, President of AWS India and South Asia, told reporters, “This collaboration provides customers with a single point of contact when it comes to complex migrations or custom solutions. Airtel has demonstrated a strong commitment to our shared customers and we look forward to continuing to work with them to bring innovative solutions to market. “
